A simple but focused proofread provides the perfect finish to your project prior to publication or submission, be it dissertation, business copy, general fiction or a specialist publication. I will add the same effort through my craft as you have put into creating your work and aim to spot errors and anomalies whilst maintaining a light, non-intrusive touch.
Proofreading services cover the following areas of your transcript:
o Typing errors
o Spelling (UK English)
o Punctuation
o Inconsistencies of font and margins
o Repeated lines or letters
o Jumbled words or letters
o Missing words or chunks of text
o Use of capitalisation, italics and bold print.
Full respect is given to the author’s individual style and creativity. Irregular phraseology or grammar will only be addressed if it affects the sense of the work or is drastically inconsistent with the author’s normal style. Clear errors of fact, date or name will not be corrected, but the proofreader will raise a concise list of any such queries for your own attention.
Proofreading will normally be carried out electronically on Word’s Track Changes, which provides the author with copies of the original script, the original script showing markup, and a final clean copy.
If you prefer me to work from hard copy I will mark the script in traditional red and blue symbols and return it by post with brief queries if pertinent.
